Over the years the festival has had an unwavering dedication to its mission of celebrating Denver’s rich African-American arts and cultural traditions through an annual festival that showcases both visual and performing arts.
The Colorado Black Arts Festival is a remarkable celebration of the culture and heritage of Colorado’s vibrant African-American community. It has been described as a “family reunion,” where the community comes together in historic Denver City Park West to share and enjoy stories, music, art and food.
Last year some 80,000+ spectators attended during the three-day festival. It is known as much for the sense of community it inspires as it is as an authentic ethnic showcase of diverse African-American visual arts, cuisine and performing artists. CBAF has a marketplace of unique arts and crafts, many of which are imported from Africa. It is well supported by Denver’s, African-American community representing 63% of all attendees.
